Subjects in the collection include the Manzanar and Rowher incarceration camps, Koyasan Buddhist Temple, Buddhism, World War II, and other topics. The Asian Pacific Studies Collection
The focus of the Asian Pacific Studies Collection is Japanese American evacuation and internment during World War II. This includes photographs, posters, newspapers, class reports, syllabi, and other materials about Japanese-American life in Los Angeles before World War II, evacuation, internment, and life following release from the camps. Materials were collected by a professor of history at CSUDH.
City of Gardena Japanese Cultural Show Photograph Albums
This collection includes five photograph albums from the City of Gardena Japanese Cultural Show sponsored by the Gardena Valley Gardeners Association. The albums contain newspaper clippings, photographs, programs, and invitation letters for the event. Topics include Japanese American gardeners, bonsai, ikebana, Japanese gardens, martial arts, and other topics related to the event and the Nikkei (Japanese American) community.

This collection includes Japanese grade-school textbooks and textbooks from The Compton Japanese School. Also included is a Chinese penmanship table.

Henry Fukuhara Paint Out Collection
The focus of the Henry Fukuhara Collection is the art, life, and work of watercolor artist Henry Fukuhara. It includes photographs and notes from various workshops called "paint-outs," held at former Japanese American concentration camps. The collection also includes photographs from exhibits, hand painted correspondence, flyers, gallery information, books, magazines, news clippings, and DVD's. Some of this collection has been digitized and is available online.

This collection contains one box of photographs, letters, flyers, postcards, booklets, newspaper clippings, newspapers, and notes related to Jimmy Fukuhara, the Fukuhara family, and the Manzanar incarceration camp.
